Hi Laurie,
I was just given your website. How terrific it is and so much information. I am a retired graphic designer of 20+ years, pre-computer for the most part. I wish I were much younger as I love all that technology has given designers. I may be nearing 60 but I am still involved in graphic design and loving it. Thank you for your contribution.

I am relatively new to website building, and use my own coded html.

I like the idea of tabs, and have created them, but now, how do I insert them into my pages?

If I save as .gif or .jpg they aren't clickable.

Helpppppppp!

Comment on Adobe’s New Icons - Lazy or Brilliant? by Chris Harrison

While I agree that the icons could be more creative... I have to say, given Adobe's unique situation and huge assortment of products, I'm not sure it would make sense to go any other way. If anything, I see this step as an evolution of the direction Macromedia had started to go with identifying applications in an iconic fashion...

With previous iterations of the Creative Suite, applications where represented by metaphoric icons: a feather, a flower, a butterfly, etc. There were few apps to contend with. The metaphors worked, for the most part. Add to those apps Macromedia's offerings. Things get more complicated, don't they?

I think the new icons work, even at 16 x 16. I'm easily able to discern between the apps based on the abbreviations used in the icons. Going on colors alone would definitely be a problem for a color-blind user, but I think that issue would exist no matter what.

As for your question about localization... I think the apps are still called by their english name no matter what. From a branding perspective, I don't know if it would make sense to change the name of any of the Creative Suite apps to fit every language.
