These aren’t the kind of bullets that one might use in one’s gat, say, in a noir thriller. But a nice bullet can add a touch of class or color to your web page, presentation, or blog. Better yet, a free bullet. Find more than 200 on Stylegala.

Not everyone is a talented graphic designer (ahem), but lots of people need icons. Jumping into the breech with a selection of free icons for blogging is Intersmash. Happy blogging!

So I finally and at last updated one of the older Photoshop tutorials on this site - How to Create those Little Colored Ball Icons in Photoshop. I had to completely redo the directions, it was first written for Photoshop 3 and 4. Now it’s all CS-CS2 compliant. I’ve included how to create a custom gradient and save it (you know your grandma is dying to share Photoshop gradients with you!) and how to add a drop shadow, making a perfect circular selection, and so much more. I’ve also offered the .psd file as a download. I’ve tried a new page effect for viewing larger versions of screenshots on the page. Let me know if you love it or hate it.

Go snag this gorgeous, hand brushed font from the Fontry. It would make a nice emphatic headline font.

If you're looking for a nice set of fonts, look no further than Who Fonted? You'll find a nice selection of dingbats (always great for icons, backgrounds and other illustrative uses), swirly, and hand-picked fonts. My apologies to my mac friends - most of these are only available in Windows format.

I’m a trip-over-the-pattern-in-the-carpet kind of person, generally unaware of where my arms and legs are, and constantly apologizing in crowds. Oh, sorry! Ooops! Are you ok? Generally my goofs are confined to bumping, tripping, dropping and knocking into and over things.
Today, however, I had a mental pratfall. We’ve been having torrential rains and winds by California standards. I work from home 3 days per week. I blithely hopped into the Honda and made my way through 50 miles of wind and rain to work - and an empty parking lot. No work today!
Sometimes all you can do is laugh at yourself. And encourage others to join in.
When I got home, I managed to knock over a floor lamp from 10 feet away. The beginning of the year now complete, I just need to write the year as 2005 on a few dozen checks and I’ll be settled into 2006 nicely.

Once in a while, the creative buzz goes bust. One the best methods I’ve found in breaking the creative doldrums is to learn something new. I can’t bring myself to update my entire web site, but blogging sounded like something I can do. I had, naturally, underestimated the technical challenge that installing WordPress on my domain would be, but I did it! It involved nudging some PHP and mySQL stuff around, but it works. Here’s to a creative and challenging new year to everyone.
