Brushes can be a fantastic way to add subtle textures, aging, complexity and sophistication to your Photoshop artwork. Unfortunately, in order to see the brushes inside the .abr file, you have to load them into Photoshop, which offers a preview of the brush. If the brush is large or complex, though, the preview from inside Photoshop’s brush gallery can be completly useless. You usually have to use the brush to see its contents accurately. You don’t want to load up too many brushes at once, either, because brushes with large file sizes eat away at Photoshop’s speed.
There are thousands of Photoshop brush files available on the internet. Luckily, there’s now a utility called ABRViewer that you can download for free. This nifty utility was created by Luigi Bellanca, and is currently only available for Windows users.
It took me some trial and error to get what I wanted out of ABRViewer, so I thought I’d offer up some tips to help out other users. Read the rest of this entry »

Who can resist the allure of something for free?
Some magazines offer free subscriptions to professionals who meet certain demographic and professional specifics can get free magazines! Free, free, yes, FREE!
I'm sure there are some magical metrics these publications have for offering these subscriptions, so if they aren't offering subscriptions now, try again in a few months.
RangeFinder Magazine for Digital Photographers offers some great content. A recent online article gives advice on speeding up Photoshop.
