| . | Okay, I kind of cheated on this list. There are some great links to free resources here, but there are also links to commercial foundries. Why? Because I said so. Not buying that line? Well, try this. Because type designers are the harbingers of design trends. Because type is cool. Because if you can design in black and white, then baby, you can design damn near anything. You can keep your Shockwave, you can have your full motion video, please, I'm begging you, keep the Java, I'm tired of my browser crashing. I'll stick with the simplicity of black and white. Not enough of a rant for you? You gotta know how to make your own fonts? I've written a little about that, too. (P.S. Kids: Mom's really, really sorry, the college fund is gone...she spent it all on fonts...) |

Cool fonts, hysterically foul-mouthed and funny rants, Chank Fonts. Castle Systems - Just beautiful, gorgeous, type, some of it inspired by Art Deco. Can you say "bossa nova"? Comp.fonts can be a tough neighborhood, but you'll learn a lot, too. It's not as rough, as, say, the HTML Authoring newsgroup, where newbies are roasted for sport on Tuesdays, but this is not the place to post your "Where can I get the dripping blood font?" question. |
